Coffee Or Tea? What Our Little Preferences May Reveal About Us…

Have you ever noticed how the preferences we choose in life quietly shape the way we live?

I don’t know what it is, but there’s something about a fresh, warm pot of coffee that just does something to my inner being. It fills me with gratitude and gives me a little spark of energy to start the morning. It’s my moment to slow down, breathe, and be intentional about the day ahead. IYKYK. *Sips coffee*

Okay, okay, so you’re not a coffee drinker? Tea, maybe? Well, if you’d prefer neither, I’m sure there’s something you naturally choose over the other.

During one of my coffee breaks, something came to mind. Have you ever noticed how the preferences we choose in life quietly shape the way we live? It sounds dramatic, but it’s true.

Research from Duke University shows that about 40% of our daily actions are driven by habits rather than conscious decisions — and those habits, big and small, influence our routines, our relationships, our opportunities, and even the way we see ourselves. The choices we repeat become patterns, and those patterns become identity.

Simply put, your habits (if you will) shape your life and the way you live it. *Sips coffee*

Personally, I think there’s meaning behind the things we gravitate toward and the choices we make. And I’m convinced that one day all of our preferences will make sense in hindsight, like puzzle pieces revealing something about our purpose. And I mean all of them — from the major life decisions to the tiny quirks like “she likes mayo over mustard.”

Think about it… Why are humans so picky? Why do we always have an opinion, a preference, a favorite? Why do we crave that little spark of satisfaction from choosing what feels right to us? They’re part of the blueprint of who we are becoming and the reason behind who we are today.

These are real questions worth sitting with. Seriously. *Sips coffee*

Umm, hmmm. Anywho. Chile, I’ve been rambling so much I forgot to even ask you. Excuse my manners… Can I interest you in some coffee or tea?
