The Live Taping Of Jermeshia Goudeau’s Podcast Was Enlightening— Here’s Why!

I had the opportunity to be in the live audience for the launch of 'Legacy in Bloom'— the podcast created by OWN's 'Family Empire: Houston' star, Jermeshia Goudeau. Here is my honest recap!

“The world is a better place when we can show up as our authentic selves. We think people want to see a perfect version, but that’s not the case,” Jermeshia Goudeau says as she sits across from her guests during the live taping for her latest venture — Legacy in Bloom, a podcast dedicated to the ever-evolving journey of modern women.

As a wife, mom, co-founder of Braden Real Estate Group, and castmate of OWN’s Family Empire: Houston, Goudeau gets what it means to juggle it all — sometimes successfully, and sometimes not.

“I want women to know that they’re not alone in this journey – we’re all figuring it out together,” said Goudeau about the show that is designed to be a space where women can share their experiences, celebrate their wins, and learn from one another. “Legacy in Bloom is about embracing the real, unpolished moments of life while building something meaningful for the future.”

BrownStyle Magazine was invited to attend the live taping of Legacy in Bloom in Houston, TX and it was truly inspirational.

As soon as I stepped into the venue, I was met with kindness, high energy, and positivity from Goudeau, her guests, and the audience.

It was an honor to be in the room as women from different walks of life got real about juggling careers, motherhood, and self-care while building a lasting legacy.

Below are the highlights for my experience!

Powerhouse Lineup

With dim lighting, light snacks, and candid moments, each set felt like a conversation with your closest friends in a comfortable setting. The multi-hyphenate entrepreneur turned host was definitely in her element on stage.

This was not the average “boring, stuffy panel”— which Goudeau expressed she did not want to happen. The way each woman bounced off of each other’s personality, energy, and wisdom was truly enlightening.

Set One: Wealth-Building

Co-CEO of Braden Real Estate Group and Family Empire: Houston cast member Nicole Handy and Sherifat Lawal-Price, SVP of Unity National Bank, discussed the importance of building generational wealth, real estate, and financial literacy.

Set Two: Motherhood and Self-Care

Chelsea Edwards, host of Chattin’ with Chelsea on Fox 26 and Fox Soul, and DeAngela Braden, founder of Kodie’s Kushion and Family Empire: Houston cast member, discussed motherhood, career, and self-care for busy, high-achieving women.

Set Three: Self and Sex-Empowerment

Dr. Angela Jones, founder of Get Centered Counseling & Consultants, LLC and the CEO of the Limbic Plan, discussed balancing self and sex empowerment with everyday life.

My Takeaways

While I’m not a mom, I do fall into the high-achieving woman category. I am happy to say that I left the taping with a lot of valuable advice from each speaker.

I walked away feeling empowered by the life lessons shared and enlightened by the wisdom of each lady. I also left the event with a newfound interest in generational wealth and motivated to accomplish the goals I’ve set for myself.

Spaces like the one Goudeau has created highlights the importance of embracing life as it comes, taking care of yourself so that you can pursue your dreams without burnout, and remembering that success is not linear; however, you have what it takes to create a legacy that lasts.

Up Close & Personal: Soft Life Faves

After the panel, I had a moment to catch up with a couple of the speakers to ask them more about their self-care practices.

Chelsea Edwards shared that self-care starts with making time for herself. “I create soft moments for myself each day, even if it’s just five minutes,” the TV host explains. “It’s skincare, lighting candles, making the bed when I can, and things I didn’t consider a luxury before being a mom. I find the soft in very little things.”

For Deangela Braden, it’s all about relaxing with a good book. “One self-help book that I would recommend is ‘Let Them’ by Mel Robbins. I’ve read it already, but I plan on reading it again. Some books you have to read twice and that’s one,” she shares.
