As a seasoned media personality and the voice behind Way Up With Angela Yee, Angela Yee is no stranger to using her platform to spark conversations and share information.

Hoping to bring awareness to women’s wellness and reproductive health, Yee proudly announced her partnership with DeTox Now— a trusted wellness brand founded by Coach Gessie Thompson that’s committed to helping women, especially Black women, take control of their health, naturally.

Yee recently shared her latest venture exclusively with BrownStyle Magazine. Ahead, learn about the new collaboration, which includes a fresh brand relaunch, a bi-monthly wellness segment on iHeartRadio, and the development of the BalanceHer Wellness Retreat.

A Meeting With Purpose

According to Yee and Coach Gessie, their partnership is one of shared values, real-life experiences, and a moment of divine alignment.

The two women first connected in Washington, D.C., at the Congressional Black Caucus, where both were speaking on a panel about health equity. It didn’t take long for their conversation to go deeper.

“I met Coach Gessie during one of those full-circle moments,” Yee recalls. “We were talking about women’s health, and I realized I hadn’t gotten a check-up in a while. That conversation stuck with me. It pushed me to act.”

Coach Gessie, whose personal battle with fibroids and fertility challenges shaped her mission, immediately saw a kindred spirit in Yee.

“I call it a divine appointment,” Coach Gessie shares. “Angela truly listened. I told her how I’d been intervening to help women naturally heal fibroids, cysts, and inflammation. She invited me to share my story on her show. That’s when we knew this wasn’t just a one-time thing. It was a partnership.”

Rewriting What’s “Normal” In Women’s Health

If you’ve ever brushed off your cramps, heavy periods, or unexplained bloating as just how it is, you’re not alone. However, that’s exactly the mindset Yee and Coach Gessie want to disrupt.

“Too many women suffer in silence,” Yee expresses. “I’ve had friends cancel trips because their periods were so bad. But instead of investigating, we normalize it. We have to change that.”

Coach Gessie breaks it down with facts that are both startling and empowering.

“A healthy menstrual cycle, according to the NIH, lasts 3 to 5 days with about 5 tablespoons of bleeding. If you’re soaking through pads every hour, popping pain meds to function, or bleeding for weeks—those are red flags,” she explains. “It could be fibroids, endometriosis, or hormonal imbalance. These aren’t things to ‘push through’—they’re signs to pay attention.”

Coach Gessie also emphasizes how untreated issues can escalate. “Severe blood loss can lead to anemia, and long-term anemia can cause heart failure. This is serious. And yet, women—especially Black women—are often told to tough it out.”

That “push through” culture? It’s not a badge of honor. It’s a health hazard.

The Soft Life Includes Wellness

At BrownStyle Magazine, we talk a lot about the soft life filled with self-care, opulence, unity, and love. However, the truth is, none of that is sustainable without good health.

“The soft life is about luxury, yes—but it’s also about listening to your body,” says Coach Gessie. “Self-care isn’t just bubble baths and skincare. It’s lab work. It’s hormone balance. It’s investing in your well-being.”

That’s why DeTox Now’s new product line is a necessity for women looking for better health. Designed to simplify health routines, the formulas target the root causes of chronic inflammation, hormonal imbalance, and reproductive disorders. From BalanceHer to PreventHer, these supplements are professional-grade, third-party tested, and developed in NSF-, GMP-, and FDA-certified facilities.

Even better? They’re affordable and accessible. Because wellness shouldn’t be a luxury, it should be a given.

So, What’s The First Step?

For women navigating health challenges, both Yee and Coach Gessie offer the same starting point: get informed.

“Take the health quiz on our website,” says Coach Gessie. “It’s a simple tool to help you assess what’s going on, and from there, we can guide you to the right solutions.”

Yee agrees. “This is about taking back control. Get that check-up. Ask the uncomfortable questions. And don’t let anyone tell you your pain is normal when it doesn’t feel right,” she adds.

And if you’re not sure where to start? Tune in to their DeTox Living segment on Way Up With Angela Yee every other week. It’s a real, unfiltered space where wellness is demystified, and where every woman is reminded that she deserves to feel whole.
