Women of Color (WOC) have a natural flava that’s sweeter than any candy in the world! We add the spice, the sugar, and the extra pizazz to life. We are THE mood board. “A Vibe” is a series by BrownStyle Magazine that highlights some of the culture’s most fascinating people. If you get it, you get it.
Soft. Sultry. Authentic. These are the three words that best describe the music and vibe of LÉA THE LEOX. Her songs soothe the soul with lyrics filled with vulnerability, self-expression, and confidence.
“I want people to listen to my music and be encouraged to be open and honest about their true feelings,” LÉA shares with BrownStyle Magazine about her music that weaves soul, pop, and folk.

I recently had the opportunity to speak to the artist about her music journey, inspirations, and the soulful energy that she brings to her music. Let’s vibe with LÉA THE LEOX…
The Journey To Stardom
Lea’s passion for music began at a young age, leading her to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. After graduating, the Brockton (MA) native took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles to carve out a space for herself as an independent artist.

“My earliest musical influences were Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys. My dad is a musician, and these were two artists we had on heavy rotation growing up,” she reminisces. “I think the raw musicianship and introspective writing from Stevie and Alicia had a huge impact on the music I make today, as well as my love for performing with live instruments.”
Given her admiration for Keys, it was no surprise that meeting her was a star-struck moment. “I met her once at an event, but I don’t feel I got to tell her how much she influenced me. I only said hi,” LÉA laughs. “I’d love a re-do!”
The Message In The Music
LÉA’s music is more than just a sound— it’s a vibe. When I shared that her songs feel like a sisterly conversation, she was genuinely touched. “Omg! That’s so sweet, I love that so much,” she said. “I strive to make people feel seen and heard with my lyrics. I write from the heart and try to be as open and honest as possible, hoping to encourage others to do so as well.”
And that message of authenticity and empowerment is only growing stronger. The multi-genre artist explains, “With the music I have coming out next, I specifically want it to encourage women to be more confident in their sexuality, their bodies, and just knowing that they are the baddest to do it because no one can be you better than you can!”
When asked which song represents her best, LÉA gave a playful yet intriguing response: “I think the song that represents me best isn’t out yet,” she teased. “But if I had to choose one that’s released, I’d say Topanga Blues. It talks a little about my experience, from my hometown to moving to a new state. I also think sonically it shows the diversity within my sound.”
Staying True To Herself In The Industry
Navigating the music industry as a woman can come with challenges, but LÉA remains steadfast in her authenticity. “I think you have to remember that there’s always a chance you’ll have a bad day, but that shouldn’t define you as a person or an artist,” she expresses. “I’ll continue to be the version of myself that makes me the happiest because, at the end of the day, I’m the only one I need to impress.”
Her dream collaborations? Sasha Keable and Lola Young. “They’re killing it, and both have super unique sounds. I think we could make a banger.”
And when it comes to her career, LÉA isn’t thinking small. “My ultimate vision is to go on my headlining arena tour after releasing a few albums. I want to tour the world and make music that connects with people worldwide,” she concludes.
